Remake?

Given how so many "classic" TV series have been made as a movie or re-imagined... it seems Room 222 would be perfect to come back.

The original was made during Vietnam.

Today we have Iraq and Afghanistan.

The original was made dafter groundbreaking civil rights legislation.

Today we have Barack Obama.

Well... I won't go on. There is just the need for a quality series (for a change) and Room 222 is a good template.

Are you talking about series or a theatrical movie (knowing how well THEY do)?

I don't think the remake of Fame lasted that long.

Nah, stick with the original. I liked Karen Valentine and Michael Constintine (very handsome, yet old enough to be my own father).

I think it could work as a series with the right casting and the same quality writing.

There's been multiple high school shows on since Room 222, most of them pretty forgettable, or goofy. My So-Called Life and Freaks and Geeks were two of the better ones, but they weren't just about high school. If Room 222 were done today, it would be so different I'm not sure there's a reason to base it on the original series.

I think the remake of Fame is Glee.

I would say that a remake of "Room 222" would be good if you could get people who very closely resembled the original characters in looks or at least could play the parts as they would be in a modern day setting if you couldn't find characters who looked similar to the original people. I've only watched one episode of season 1 on DVD, but so far, my favorite characters are: Pete (the main character), Richie (the boy who lied about his address to be at that school, and imitates Pete by dressing like him and taking his jacket off when Pete does), the student teacher (she's hot lol even if that was over 40 years ago, when I would have been 3 years old), and the guidance counselor. (I saw Denise Nicholas in a 1980's movie with Danny Glover called "And The Children Shall Lead," where they had two daughters and he spanked the little girls with a switch because the youngest one used a bathroom "for whites only.") That movie was supposed to have taken place in 1964 in the South during the Civil Rights movement.
