Just finished watching the last episode. David Jolliffe, who played Bernie for most of the show's run, did not appear in it. Instead, Donny Most (Ralph Malph from HAPPY DAYS) appeared as a character named Louie. Basically, the producers seemed to be replacing one red-haired comic supporting character with another. I wonder if Jolliffe was unavailable or if he had decided to leave the show at that point.
shareI notice that and he wasn't as good on the show as Bernie was too. He was great as " Ralph Malph" but I didn't like his appearance on Room 222!
shareJust saw that same episode this morning. It's pretty funny to see Ralph Malph in there instead of Bernie. I think you're right that they just swapped one red haired kid for another thinking they were fooling us! What probably happened was that the crew got notice just prior to filming that last episode that the show was being canceled and Joliffe was pissed and quit. You can tell that the cancelation must've come as a total surprise because they didn't even have a chance to write an episode that gave any closure whatsoever to five long seasons. The Brady Bunch went pretty much the same way and aired during the same time frame.
