Heshimu (Jason) and his Sunglasses/Bandage

Watching some episodes on cable and I notice that in a few shows Heshimu (Jason) is wearing dark glasses and has a bandage under his eye. Anyone know why? Was he in an accident? A fight? Did he have surgery? It just seems so obvious and I don't believe they ever addressed this in any of the scripts.
