BBC 2 31/12/2011 3 HOURS OF PROGRAMMES

As someone who was 10 in 1970 I saw a lot of MORECAMBE and WISE on tv in the 1970s,but I never ,then or now understood why people say they were so great?

Their sort of stuff,like THE 2 RONNIES was middle of the road bland but inoffensive.
I think the THE 2 RONNIES are overrated but I can recall several classic sketchss but I can't recall any great bits in MORECAMBE and WISE.

I appreciate the BBC doing show biz based dramasa and repeats of old programmes to show us the greats of the past but MORCAMBE and WISE were never classic or forgotten.

The audience for MORECAMBE and WISE stuff must be getting smaller with age as time goes on,they have not been on tv since 1981,so there can't be that many aspiring comics watching them for tips?

I expect that someone will mention how MIRANDA HART is inpired by people like this,and I like her but I still don't get the BBC's obsession with this duo.
