Who the hell was that guy laughing in both this show and Fawlty Towers?

I know it's pretty much pointless to ask at this point since everyone's so old now and it's been decades, but this is one of the greatest TV mysteries of all time to me. On MPFC and Fawlty Towers, there was a person with a distinct laugh that you could hear throughout the run of both series. You can especially hear him in the Montgolfier Brothers episode; he is the one laughing 80% of the time. I've been trying to track down who that person might've been out of curiosity, but haven't turned up anything.

It's probably part of some canned laugh track, then, that they used to either augment audience laughs or replicate them from scratch. My guess is that he was some BBC intern or audio engineer back in the '60s (or even '50s) who had to lay down part of a laugh track for the shows of that era to use. Can you hear him anywhere else? Maybe he's on a number of comedy shows in that decade?
