overweight girl

what episode is the one where he is scolding a teenage girl named Kimberly for being overweight and he says he has no sympathy for fat people?

reply

Sorry it has taken so long for someone to reply to you. I didn't remember exactly which episode it was but I came across it today.

It is Season 1, Ep. 20 - Nobody Wants a Fat Jockey; original air date was Feb 24, 1970.

It really does sound like he's being harsh with her, doesn't it?

reply

I do remember back in 1970 Doctors were very harsh with overweight people. I know back then i was 5'4" tall and weighed 130 lbs. and they told me i was overweight. I know i wasn't skinny but I didn't think i was that fat. But they said it bluntly "you are too fat."

reply

Back in 1970-71 I, too, was 5'4" and 118 and the MD seeing me for appendicitis claimed I was "a BIG girl". Give me a break. I struggled to stay between 135 and 145 all through high school. I won't even hint at what I weigh now!

reply

the pressure us to be skinny. that is not fair and that is why a lot of girls became anorexic

reply

not many skinny girls anymore, especially lazy millennials.

reply

I remember the episode. The girl though she could lose weight without overeating. Dr. Welby disagreed.

reply

She also thought hypnotism would work. Again, Dr. Welby disagreed.

reply

Marcus should have had the same observation about Consuelo.

According to IMDb:

Universal Studios, which hired her quite frequently, would not sign her to a studio contract because she refused its request that she lose weight.
