Did this show have a cartoon skit occasionally?

A friend swears there was a cartoon character called danger or something and he was a spy or secret agent that had a huge nose and could change into things to hide..but his nose was still there.. Was this real or was my friend on some serious drugs?

I can't remember any cartoon sketches, per se, but I do remember that they actually showed a cartoon "music video" of Bad Bad Leroy Brown. Years before MTV!

reply

I think you're confusing your 70's TV shows...I believe The Bad,Bad, Leroy Brown video was shown on the Sonny and Cher Show.

reply

Your absolutely right, it was on Sonny and CHer, I not only remember the show, but if you look at the carton video on YouTube Sonny makes an appearence in the video.

I dod not know if that cartoon bit was on that show but I have seen it. Your friend may has been on a trip, but so were a lot of the people making televions shows in that era.

reply

Yes, it most certainly did, and your friend was not on acid. Danger was my favorite of the skits, and he may have even have had more than one episode. The voice of Melvin Danger (in "Love and the Private Eye") was done by Richard Dawson. I don't remember the thing with the nose, but I was a kid and I thought the cartoon stuff was more fun than a lot of the corny story lines with real people. I stumbled across this looking for something else, and my first thought of this show was of Danger, so your friend definitely is not alone. And I've never dropped acid in my life.

There was an animated episode called "Love and the old fashioned father". Tom Bosley did the voice for the lead character Harry Boyel. It is listed on his IMDB resume. As I remember it was the pilot for a short live series called "Wait till your father gets home". Unfortunely I can't find any listing for this series on the IMDB.

'wait till your father gets home' was a cartoon. i don't remember a cartoon on 'love american style', but i keep seeing that 'las' spawned the most spinoffs, so i am guessing that 'wait till your father gets home' was the animated bit that spawned the 'series' of the same name. other than that, i remember 'las' having many skits a la benny hill to be short and racy

It's mentioned in the trivia section on this very page as one of the 2 shows that first had their pilot on L,AS.: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068148/ .

I remember that. He was called penis nose at the time by the public, but Harry LaShalle did the voices and they called him Oscar. Reference to the award and the main sponsor Oscar Meyer.

I'm sorry if this has been answered, but there was at least 1 full cartoon episode. Tom Bosley did one of the voices.

The Wait Till Your Father Gets Home pilot, which aired as an episode of LAS, is on YouTube:

I remember "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home". It actually was rather funny. Also, I thought that the "Danger" character was the spawn for Inspector Gadget. The detective could change into anything including a Sheep Dog but just had that huge nose. Lots of can-laughter. I also remember that LAS had Happy Days original episode.
