The siren
Does anyone know what the source of the street sirens that could be heard in the background. They could be heard sometimes during his opening segment or during the interviews. Was there a firehouse near the studio?
shareI have become quite the fan of Dick Cavett since ditching my cable and discovering the Decades Channel that plays the reruns of his show. He is fabulous!
I hear the sirens too, and according to this archived Chicago Tribune article, the show was indeed filmed across the street from a fire station. There's a funny line in the article that says the Carson people called in false alarms to ruin the show.
