James Komack

One of the trivia bits states that Bill Bixby did not get along with James Komack. The same seems to be true for Gabe Kaplin on Welcome Back Kottor.

This begs the question: Was Womack just a jerk? Seems he his inability to "play well with others" may have caused a few shows to go away early.

Some producers love to be controlling and I think that was the case with Komack. I don't know what type of person he was off camera, but his relationships with both Bixby and Kaplan soured because he started taking their shows in undesirable directions. With Courtship, many of the episodes started becoming focused around his character, Norman Tinker.

Kotter started coming drifting away from Kaplan's vision. And in the fourth season, he made limited appearances because he did not like where Komack was going with the show. As for Chico and The Man, the fault was not his own since it was Freddie Prinze's death that killed the show.

Sadly Komack was the reason on the downfall on the courtship of eddie's father and welcome back kotter while i only seen a few episodes of courtship he and bixby where having too many problems with welcome back kotter am a fan of that show and while the 4th season is not that great i do still like it. I would have preferred Kaplan's idea of the sweathogs going to college more on kotter and his family.Komack would have none of that let alone he was having problems with Kaplan cause he felt he knew where the show needed to go and even started a feud between Gabe Kaplan and Marcia Strassman they where having real problems on the show during the 3rd season i think it was until Strassman found out that Komack was lieing about Kaplan really sad that Komack would start problems for no reason.
