The show started in the 1960's, not the 1970's.
Now, there was a live-action Brady Bunch show that took place entirely in the 1970's, but most people want to discount that show completely.
Even though I liked it.
Maybe because 89% of the episodes aired in the 1970's. (13 episodes out of 117)
I consider it to be a 70's show since most of the episodes aired in the 70's.

You have a point. Though it is synonymous with the 70s, it did start in the 60s and continued with the 60s feel. They were always watching cowboy movies, the cars were 60s style (till Greg's land yacht late in the series), the music coming out of the record player always sounded like Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, the colors and feel of the show were crisp and the same style as earlier 60s shows (as apposed to the 3 camera grainy brown depressing live audience stuff that appeared later in the 70s)......
And decades start on the '1's so we can buy them another 60s year for 1970 haha. We can leave it up their variety show a few years down the road to bring out the true horror of the 70s :0

The land yacht I was referring to was the 1974 Impala convertible Greg used in the driving test against Marsha (I at least thought it was his. Hadn't seen it in decades.) The 70-72 Plymouths still had the 60s or at least transitional look which is what I was going for in my previous post.

Here's why I criticized the question.

To be technical, the last two years of the decade. The decade of the sixties ran for 1961 to 1970. Its a technical difference and not really relevant to the feel of the show. But its one of those things that bugs me.
To make it clear, when our calendar changes from BC to AD, or if you prefer BCE and CE there was no year 0. The first year AD or CE is 1. The 2nd is 2. The 10th, completing the first decade AD is 10. The 100th year of AD is 100, completing the 1st century.
The 21st century began on Jan 1, 2001, not on Jan 1, 2000.
The show started in the last year of the 1960's. It ran from 1969-1974. So it WAS the seventies when season 1 ended. And it more likely started in the fall. So, there were only a few months of the 60's left.

shareMost Of the episodes of season 1 where probably filmed in 1969 with the Pilot being filmed in 1968. The first season has the look of a 60's sitcom with Carol and the girls in short dresses, Carol's big helmet hair (wig), Mike and the boys tight high water pants and striped T-shirts, Mike's plaid sportcoats and loafers etc...even the theme song has that late 60's bubblegum pop sound.
It is considered more of a 70;s show because the majority of episodes aired in the 70's. The Brady's became the icon of tacky 70's fashion with bell bottoms, Carol's shag hair, Mike and the boys perms etc....

This notion started during the start of the new century, 2001 many argued was the actual start of the new century.
It doesn't make sense when we're talking about decades in terms of starting with a specific number though. If you smugly tell someone born in 1970 that they were born in the sixties, you might get punched, and you'd deserve it.
One day, if you grow up to be a big boy, you will not have your keyboard to hide behind. Please tell me how it works out for you when you try to 'punch' someone who disagrees with you about something as trivial as the Brady Bunch or when decades start. Please post pics!

shareWhen I told him I was 6'2", he was pretty impressed since although he was considered on the tall side for his time, he was still only 4'7". Which is why in the bible when they talk about giant sized people, but archeologists never find bones, it's because people who were 6'6" like Kowalski were the giants from most other people's perspective.
