Alice's Job at the Brady's

There's been a lot of discussion whether or not Alice got paid. Well, in the Silver Platter episode, she talks about payday not being for two weeks and having to buy the Brady's an anniversary gift.

In the episode Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore Mike says that Alice hadn't recieved a raise since they married and that was the possible reason for her leaving.

if that thought even crossed his mind then he is the biggest douchebag in the world! +4 people and still get paid the same??? screw you Mike Brady!

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

It was during the first season, only the fourth episode, and Carol then helped with some of the work and delegated some of it to the children.

Alice was paid and taken on vacations and such.

Yes b/c Mike and Carol a couple of times talk about giving Alice a raise... I KNOW Alice loves the Bradys BUT I don't think anyone would do what she does for totally NOTHING. I know Carol helps some, but Alice really keep things going.

The only time that Alice not getting paid came up was in the Brady Bunch Movie. They said that she might not get paid. Even that line is stupid, because there were multiple times when Alice mentioned her pay.

I think the movie exaggerated aspects of the show, like them saying they only had ONE bathroom, when really they SHOULD have had at least 4! Alice's, Mike and Carol's, the guest bathroom and the kids' bathroom.

reply

That Mike Brady, he's sure some brilliant architect! And according to the real estate agent who tried to sell their house, Mike was "always bragging about it."

Who said there ever was a "guest" bathroom? They had no guest bedroom.

reply

So then was she only paid monthly? Or if she got paid every two weeks, did she already spend her last paycheck?

reply

Of course she got paid. Otherwise the wholesome do no wrong Brady's would be guilty of slavery.

Also in the Christmas Special from 1988. Alice didn't live there anymore and was married to Sam. She came to stay with them. When Mike and Carol decided to use their vacation money to buy airline tickets for kids and their families to come home for Christmas, Alice said "All those people in this house? If I worked here I'd want a raise."

reply

The terms of Alice's employment were rarely discussed, It just wasn't that kind of show.
