when did Breast Augmentation Surgery invent? I heard the rumours said Monroe had the surgery

reply

If only there was a way to search for information on the internet.

But alas, I cannot conceive of a manner in which to acquire such information.

This "internet" of which you speak....might one be able to thumb through pictures of this "Monroe's" breasts there?

The first famous example of breast augmentation surgery among actresses that I can remember (I'm 50 now, in 2016) was when Mariel Hemingway admitted she got her breasts enlarged for a (rather insignificant) movie called Star 80, directed by Peter Bogdanovich. I seem to recall the ads in some of the men's magazines featuring girls with tits that looked like they were smuggling hockey pucks in them.

Naturally, because of this, I thought that cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery was just something done since the early 80s.

However, if you read the book Oil! by Upton Sinclair, you'll be surprised to read that one of the characters is seduced by an aging Hollywood actress who looked very youthful because she had had surgery done on her skin to correct "sagging." And that book was published in 1927 or thereabouts (according to Wiki, anyway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil!).

Star 80 (1983) was directed by Bob Fosse.

You're right. Sorry.

If only there were some website that helped us keep track of movie trivia like that...

You were probably thinking Bogdanovich because he was dating Dorothy Stratten, whom Star 80 was a biopic of. (After Stratten was murdered, he then went on to marry her younger sister.)
