They need to at least stay true to the original formula and make it outrageously psychedelic.

I predict that Disney/Pixar will digitally render the original charm into obvilion and it will look like an episode of Jimmy Neutron.
I'll watch it out of curiosity when it comes to cable, but doubt I'd walk across the theater parking lot to see it even if it was free.
Now that you've mentioned it, they would really do something over the top with the remake if they don't stick to the quality and feel of it that made it an unforgettable movie for so long.
