Just in case, I'll make it a covered spoiler At the very last scene, when the nuns are walking about the campus in the revised habits with higher hemlines, 2 students run into the church and pull kleenex out and put them atop their heads before entering the doors of the church The nuns changed, but the students did not?

Just because the nuns got updated habits doesn't mean you didn't have to cover your head in church anymore. Way into the 70s you had to wear something on your head. It went from hats to a mantilla to a little thing that looked like a doily on your head.

I had my 1st Communion in 1970, and the rule that females had to enter a Church with something [even a tissue as in the ending scene of the movie] was already dropped for a year or more.
