You must be *beep* kidding me

Sound about right to me. Have you seen the film? Have you had a look at its background?

reply

No havent seen it yet, but mate, its almost a BILLION dollars to make this movie in this time, what must they have had to do lol

reply

You haven't looked into this thoroughly. Try the trivia page for this film.

Adjusted for inflation, this film cost over $700 million to make, and is thus the most expensive film ever made.

reply

Yeah I read some articles about it lol, I'm not a complete retard ;)

but then I saw some clips on youtube and I'm sorry but....100 THOUSAND extras?
what kind of BONEHEAD thought it was good to hire a HUNDRED thousand extras for one scene... it was pretty amazing, but I didn't think it was needed

maybe for realism?

I was just confused about why people spent so much to make a movie, that nowadays would be 4 times the budget of todays movies

If I ever do see the movie, I may still be confused but oh well

Neither the director, nor his team nor the Russian government - all the soldiers in the film were members of the Russian Army - were boneheads (forgive the lower case letters) when it came to making a film about what is possible the most important piece of Russian literature. You are obviously not aware of the "scale" of this film, and as you have already seen some clips, it might now perhaps be an idea to rent the movie.

You appear not to be aware of the fact that the film was shot before CGI had raised its ugly head - hence the use of the many extras - a circumstance which had a beneficiary, in terms of realism, effect on the film.

There aren't many, if any, films that in today's money have cost a quarter of what "War and Peace" had cost that are as good/great as this film.

And with this I am bowing out

reply

It could be less expensive than you imagine. All the producer had to do was use live ammunition for the final take.
