I thought I would hate this film!

At first I really hated Claude ... and in turn thought I would hate the film. What an annoying little brat! Then he goes to the country to live with Pepe and Meme and instantly is transformed into a totally likable and wise and intelligent child. The way he handled Pepe's antisemitism was amazing. From that point on the film becomes a charming tail of life in rural France during the war ... and I became envious. Mostly is was about a special bond between and old man and a young boy ... and I became envious! What a great film!
