Was that a live rabbit kicked in the head?

One scene has one of Maria's brothers-in-law kick a rabbit to kill it so she can cook it for dinner. After the kick the camera lingers on the rabbit for a good second or two. It looked like it was still moving. Was that a fake rabbit or did they kill a live one on camera for real? Just curious.

Hard to tell. It happens so fast--the rabbit appears to be quivering a little after the hit but it could be vibration from being held.

It looked real to me.
