Fellinirama - A tribute to the maestro

This was an assigned project filmed during the spring 2008 semester on the UC Berkeley campus. An homage to the legendary Italian director Federico Fellini, the film is a melange of characters, dialogue, and music culled from the maestro's body of work. Everything is revised, rearranged, and reinterpreted, but astute Fellini fans should recognize numerous nods and references.

The film also features an amazing improv performance by saxophonist Andrew Beal, who was recently featured on NBC's "America's Got Talent" and "The Today Show." Both clips are available here on YouTube.

This piece was produced on an extremely tight schedule. The entire film was shot, cut, and finaled in three days. All spoken lines were pulled and altered from the following works:

La strada (1954)
Le notti di Cabiria (1957)
La dolce vita (1960)
8 1/2 (1963)
Toby Dammit (1968)

The entire score (other than Beal's live solo) is by lifetime Fellini collaborator Nino Rota. Music was pulled from the above list, as well as these additional films:

Il bidone (1955)
Amarcord (1973)

Questions, comments, and criticisms welcome.
