Awkward Brother and Sister Moments...?

Anyone else weirded out by Jane Fonda's love interest being played by her brother? Very interesting and incredibly awkward at the same time.

Yes, there was a great deal made about it when the film came out, and especially because Jane's husband Vadim cast them both in it and directed it -- it seemed both incestuous and menage -a trois-ish at the same time--but if you look at the film, the Fondas never really have an intimate or distastfully creepy scene together---

It's been a while since I saw the film, but if I remember correctly, the most intimate thing Jane and Peter do is cuddle together under Peter's cloak for warmth. It's not like we see them in bed together or tongue-kissing or anything.

Of course, I saw it on American TV-- wonder if the European theater version was DIFFERENT? Films made at that time sometimes had two different versions-- the Euro one being more explicit sexually, violently, etc.

The same situation occurred in Tod Browning's FREAKS, as the two little people (Hans and Frieda,) supposedly in love and engaged, were played by real-life brother and sister Harry and Daisy Earles (actually Kurt and Hilda Schneider.)

I doubt they would have signed on to do the film if anything slightly incestuous was involved. Yes they were close as siblings but not sick people. Besides their father would have probably killed them or felt like it. OMG! I have been reading books about both siblings since Peter's demise. This film sounds interesting. I like Alain Delon's acting, although I was born in the late 60's.
