Who sang 'Good Day Sunshine' ?

Not much reason to watch this flick, except for kooky mod nostalgia.

-but that was some killer version of the Beatles tune. It sounded a lot like Al Green or Otis Redding, with a definite "Motown-esque" arrangement. I don't think I ever heard this version on USA radio, so maybe it was a British hit, or (unlikely) composed just for the movie?

The only other version on record is by Claudine Longet, and that certainly can't be it.

Does anyone know who it was, and the story behind it?

The original UK soundtrack credits it to Roy Redman. Interestingly a 'Roy Redmond' also recorded a 1967 LP called "Good Day Sunshine" though I've no idea if it's the same track.
