Did Terence Stamp speak Italian in this or was his English voice dubbed over?

IMDb has a credit for dubbing for Stamp's role by Pino Colizzi. I can only assume this is correct.

His voice was dubbed! I was so disappointed that I stopped watching the film on DVD. As a long time Terence Stamp fan I couldn't believe the director would actually do that.
