better than...


...almost anything you'll see in any major Hollywood release in any given year. Shockingly good. Terrifying and human at the same time.

This is exactly the kind of film I have in mind when I tell people about the power of omitting an oppressive score and using ambient sound, POV, etc., to establish exactly what it would be like to do or see something like this deranged killer did. There's nothing cool about it. It's horrific. Sad. Pointless. And it comes across because of the plain, unadorned quality of the way it was filmed. You couldn't have done anything nearly this good with the usual Hollywood treatment.
