The Death of Julie Andrews

Mary Poppins died in this rotten movie. How did JA ever survive this pile of sh** ? No doubt this pile of rotting garbage was influenced by Funny Girl, but it is awful with a capital A. This film has the same disease that infects many of Blake Edwards movies -- a straining to be cut, a sensibility that is unfunny and completely phoeny. Miss Andrews has more than redeemed herfelf with the Princess Diaries movies, but Star! was a near death experience if ever there was one.

Star! was a near death experience if ever there was one.

I know exactly how you feel. I experienced it while reading your bilious screed.

"Thank you, thank you--you're most kind. In fact you're every kind."

Julie Andrews was beginning to take more adult roles at this time, instead of the typical happy-go-lucky nun from the 20's who flies around using an umbrella.

I enjoyed STAR! and took it as the first step by Andrews into a more adult movie world.

And by the way, STAR! was in no means "The Death of Julie Andrews (Rated R)", it was the botched operation on her vocal cords that was the REAL death of Julie Andrews.

Sticky Balls will provide hours of fun right out of the box.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Julie Andrews has done fabulous work throughout the years. I've loved her in sweet, innocent, squeaky roles and adult roles alike, particularly Victor Victoria.

She also had a voice that was unbelievably honeyed and beautifully expressive...but I don't get why people would regard the loss of her ability to sing as her "demise". She's done loads of meaningful activities since 1997; writing books for kids, filming movies that still employ the use of her unique and versatile voice (Princess Diaries, Shrek, Despicable Me), charitable work, etc. I guess I just dislike it when people keep mentioning the "botched operation" incident. I can't imagine why one would constantly remind oneself and others (especially on youtube) on regretful thoughts of Julie's loss as opposed to cherishing the beauty that she had once created, which still features prominently in my mind till today. Her physical presence serves as a strong reminder to that of which she has gifted us, and people like Oprah and Rosie honour her till today for it. I for one find it disrespectful to associate the word "death" with Julie Andrews or her career while she still lives and breathes and presents us with new delightful works of art. Her acting skills, beauty and elegance, strength of character and good humour deserve a worthy mention - she is one class act.

Due to star worship. One thing goes wrong in her life, and it's hear "death". Her husband kept her career alive by casting her. If we were to scroll down thru all her credits after 1970, how many directors hired her aside form Blake.
