Please, could anybody tell me, what was presenting the girl at the graveyard (with long straight hair who was running behind the car in the final scene). Thanks. By the way, wonderful film with great dark black humor.

She represents death.

According to the Brothers Quay in their intro to the movie (their take, obviously not necissarily the intention of Herz), she's not death but rather represents some kind of salvation.

I'm not sure she is Death. If she was, I feel she would have joined him in the car at the end instead of running after him.

I agree with the brothers Quay, who would not have looked out of place in the film! She's related to his moral conscience and appears whenever he is most glib and when he spies her he looks uncomfortable.
