I saw Skidoo (spoilers?)

I'd not heard of it until recently (late 2010). I was looking the program listings on my DISH satellite tv system and saw Groucho's name on a 60's film on the Movie Channel. That was enough for me. I noticed that DISH gave it a rating of 1.5 stars out of 4. I thought with Groucho how bad can it be? Well, I soon discovered pretty bad. Groucho was wasted, he looked downright embarrassed at times (could have been my imagination I suppose).

I was/am impressed at all of the "names" in the film. Gleason, Channing, Marx, Rooney, Romero, Raft and on and on.

Maybe a comedy about hippies and organized crime seemed like a good idea at the time, who knows. Maybe it was a good idea and just needed a different script/director.

I did like the concept of Jackie Gleason taking an acid trip. That was a pretty good idea.
Carol Channing stripping? Works for me.
Frank Gorshin in prison? I liked him.
A lot of the tv Batman villians? Coincidence?
Police arrested hippies with weed and decided the run them out of town instead of putting them in prison?
Stone Country? Maybe those were some of the musicians at the end.
Alexandra Hay? Donyale Luna? Each died young I see.
Slim Pickens? Richard Kiel?

I wanted to like this and maybe it was so bad it was good (or not). I'm glad I saw it, though it's hard to explain why.
