Early Bit Part by Penelope Keith

I was pleasantly surprised to spot the wonderful Penelope Keith making a non-speaking appearance as a maid at the Dutch beach hotel at approx. 1:21 & again at 1:36. The role doesn't appear on her IMDB page, but it's her alright.

If you're not familiar with this wonderful comedienne's acting talents, then I highly recommend THE NORMAN CONQUESTS (1977), a trilogy of Alan Ayckbourn plays. Watch it, without delay -- you won't regret it!

I saw her and thought it was Penelope Keith, too. Do you have proof that it really is her and not someone who looks like her? She had done a fair deal of TV work by 1968, and it is odd to me that she was just an extra in this film, unless she had some lines and it was left on the cutting room floor.

Proof? No, I don't have any first hand, historical or independent evidence, but I'm as positive as I can possibly be. Her performance in THE NORMAN CONQUESTS is one of my all-time favorities (I've seen it countless times) and I know quite a bit of her other work as well. She has quite distinctive facial features, hairstyle, height, silhouette, posture, and very unique mannerisms and body movements -- including that charming waddle. Simply unmistakeable.

Well, I've seen THE NORMAN CONQUESTS many times as well, and she is wonderful in it, and was great in GOOD NEIGHBORS, too. She's always someone to look forward to in any production.

She is listed on the BFI Database as being in the film, along with another familiar face from British TV, Roger Lloyd-Pack.
