Underrated classic Western

This really is a superb film and one of Burt's best.

Action and comedy aplenty and it's such a shame so few people have seen it. I only caught the film by accident one sunday afternoon - but I'm so glad I did.

I'm also glad I got the reg 2 dvd, it's just a shame there are no extra's whatsoever for it. Surely a few filmographies and a trailer at the very least? And perhaps a commentary from a western expert or any of the cast?

Still a great film which deserves an average of an 8 and NOT a rubbish 6.

The best western most folks have never heard of. Absolutely great script. Terrific perfomances. And just plain funny!

I agree. I saw this film years ago in the late 60s and I thought about it recently, for some reason or other, so I ordered it online. Burt Lancaster is superb as the wily and tough Joe Bass who 'never quits'. And it's a riot of comedy, at times. Hugely enjoyable and great fun.

Really great, funny interplay between Burt Lancaster and Ossie Davis -- who was so underused in films.
