Movies usually spend about a year in post-production, so she was 15 when they filmed and 17 when the movie was released.

It wasn't unusual for actresses to shave years off their ages early in their careers back in the day. Now that we have the Internet, and sites like iMBD, it's a lot harder to get away with that kind of thing anymore. Even Madonna shaved off 2 or 3 years in her early days, claiming to be younger than she was. Given how she became so big so fast, that little charade didn't hold up for long.

The film was released in the States in '68. The film however was filmed before '68 obviously. She was 15 during filming. No discrepancy.

It was filmed in the summer of '67. Olivia was born in April '51 making her 16 when it was filmed.

How was she able today a nude scene. If this was done today it would be considered child pornagraphy.

Part of her breast is bared for just a moment! How ridiculous to say it would be child pornography!

Now, try watching "Blue Lagoon" and "Pretty Baby", both with Brooke Shields! Both of those were accepted; "Blue Lagoon" was a major hit. There was some controversy about "Pretty Baby", but it still often shows up on cable movie channels.

Leonard does have "backal" nudity in the bedroom scene, but Olivia's "exposure" is extremely brief~a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment.

My English class in high school back in the Sixties was taken to see this. I was so enraptured that I returned 16 times. Since then, it's remained my NO. 1 film of all time, and I've seen it far more than 100 times~well past the century mark. In fact, I'm watching it right now on Encore.

It is my most memorable film and one that had an incredible effect on me. When I see it now it all comes back how I felt. I saw it when it came out and was blown away. That scene at the Capulet ball when Romeo first sees Juliet come out being escorted by two men and that music swells gives me goose bumps. I remember my male English teacher told us he took his freshmen and cried. I cried too and couldn't leave the theater until I recovered.
