I just happened to catch the ending of this movie on tv. there's one thing that I don't understand, but seemed really emotionally intense for Rachel, that I was wondering if someone could help me out. when Rachel comes back after having sex with the guy (after saying she wants a child,) and her mother yells at her about something on her bed - what was it on her bed?

Yes, I too just saw the end where you did.
The object on the bed was an old fashioned douche bag.
They used to use them to wash themselves out with vinegar and water or something to prevent pregnancy after being intimate.
(not a very safe method)
