The Manbeating German Nurse Beauty
The funniest part of the movie, especially when Michael Caine's character volunteered to "subdue" her and failed.

shareAgreed. The way she roundhoused that rapist was the most realistic I've ever seen on film.
shareGuess still not allowed in 1968, but seems to me her character is a lesbian and she is not going to take any crap or advances from a man.

I didn't get a lesbian impression from her. I just think she didn't want to get raped. And they did have the two "friendly" Arabs in the movie. So I'm guessing if she was a lesbian they would have played it up more.
Thoughts from others?
In what way is attempted rape an 'advance?'
shareThis part of the movie really upsets me.
It sheds a bad light on the Allies for allowing the mistreatment of the woman.
The officer in charge should shoot any soldier who attempts to rape her.
All the guys pitching in to rape her are disgusting. Definately not a funny part. Plus she is Red Cross and shouldn't be treated as a soldier. The only good one here was the gay Arab who shot the guy in the butt.
It wasn't intended to be "a funny part".
Neither Douglas or Leach was in the vicinity of the attempted rape until the gun was fired.
The "Allies" were criminals, so the "bad light" has already shined on them. If Douglas had shot all the attempted rapists, there would have been no one left to carry out the mission.
Yes, it is upsetting, but it shows how war dehumanizes people.
But throughout it all, my motto was "Dignity! Always dignity!".
was she Red Cross or a German Nurse???
shareLesbian??? Because she was a good fighter? Because she fought not to get raped? Where are you coming from?
