The ending to Citizen Kane is pretty good.

I believe I read that Rod Serling came up with it... in the novel there was like a diary that made the reveal instead of something visual like a recognizable landmark.

The delivery by Charlton Heston adds so much too it, a lesser actor could’ve fudged it up a bit.

I think back in 1968, a lot of people didn't get the ending and were left wondering how the apes transported the Statue of Liberty to another planet in another galaxy
