I believe I saw Ed O'Neill (Modern Family, Married with Children) in at least one scene in this movie - training camp, the football team players' show before the training match - he was at the audience during the parody show.

Probably not, as he didn't get into acting until 1980.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

...but he get into playing football in sixties. In 1969 he got drafted by Steelers (was cut in training camp - according to imdb). It is still possible he was at (some) training camp in 67 or 68, when the shots of "Paper Lion" were taken
