I always put this in discussion for "Best Horror Film". Which is saying something cause I can't even decide if this or "Dawn Of The Dead" (1978) is Romero's best film.

It was the vehicle which both raised the bar of the genre in the second half of the twentieth century and was arguably, after Psycho the most influential horror film of the same period. Interesting too, that they were both filmed in black and white.🐭
Totally agree with you. This film deserves all the credit it recieves for being a turning point in the horror genre.
And to think its creator (Romero) got his start directing tv ads and episodes of 'Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" which was a childrens program. This film basically came from out of nowhere and blew minds with its unrelenting bleakness.
Yes, I always watch this at least twice a year and it never gets old. It is a brilliant movie and I don't think there will ever be a zombie film that I like better.
