Nice Article About a Planned Restoration of The Original Print!

Good information here about the film:

I read somewhere that the original print was lost in a fire, or a scene or dialogue was missing because they were never able to restore the first print. Is this true? If so, where in the movie are the scenes missing? The link above says a copy of the original print is in storage and very secure.

I think the big deal about this is because this print had the original copyright that was removed because of the Walter Reade Organization/Distributors. Russ Streiner had been attempting to restore the copyright for the Latent Image since they first got screwed out of the royalties on the theater circuit. He talks about it briefly in the documentary on the 40th Anniversary DVD.

Trivia: The original print was destroyed by a water leak in the same basement that doubled for the cellar in Night of the Living Dead!
