Fosse lifted alot from this film-

When you look at the timeline, this came out before Sweer Charity and Cabaret. The shots from the stage wings, audience reactions, Fosse implemented in the above movies.

The cast in this is impressive. Robards is terrific, as usual. Too bad more people don't know about this movie, they might think it's cheesey and the style dated but it shows a part of entertainment history accurately-

I noticed references to this in Moulin Rouge! too. (Don't put anything past Baz Luhrmann.) I even think Minsky's was a source of inspiration for much of Michael Bennett's stage work (Follies, Ballroom).

Bob Fosse didn't "lift" anything from The Night They Raided Minsky's for Sweet Charity. Fosse filmed ALL of Sweet Charity before The Night They Raided Minsky's hit the theaters.

I like The Night They Raided Minsky's a lot, but Fosse's cinematic vision was firmly in place before Minsky's came along. He spent his formative years on the MGM lot, and before that on the stages of numerous dives - and these influences can be seen in his films.
