I was startled by how Richard Widmark played the scene with Henry Fonda, the one when he ran into the Commissioner while looking for a telephone. He seemed like another character from 18 years before - Harry Fabian, his character in Night and the City. He borrowed from his one-way dialog with his rival in promoting wrestling and his real boss, Phil.
