A side by side shotgun for police? No technical advisor I guess!

Near the end, the policeman who used the shotgun to shoot the lock used a side by side hunting shotgun. You could see the long barrel and the silver finished action. Real police even then used pump action, short barreled shotguns.

I knew a county sheriff who carried a sawed off double barreled shotgun in his car with a holster for it to fit in. Of course he was elected and could carry anything he wanted. It might have been illegal by federal standards due to the shortness of the barrel. I worked for a major police department next to his county and the squad cars carried 12 gauge pumps and four shells.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

My understanding was that NYPD did issue 12-bore Savage/Stevens 311 shotguns for special situations, but they were kept at the precinct and not routinely carried in the patrol vehicles.
