Mistranslated title becomes an urban legend

It is in most reference books and, inevitably, in the IMDb. But this movie was NEVER called "The People of Abrimes". This "title" is just a mistranslation, following a typo, of the French release title of the film, LE PEUPLE DES ABÎMES (literally, "The People from the Deep". Someone made this goof way back in the '60s, and English-language publications have repeatedly mentioned it as an alternate title, perpetuating the error.

It's about time IMDb rectified this.

Good catch! You can submit a correction using the "update" feature at the bottom of the main informations page, though correcting something like an alternate title might require an IMDb Pro account. In any event good work, hopefully nobody is looking for an alternate version of the film under that title due to the misinformation.
