Film Location

The film was made in Chertsey, close to Shepperton studios. The director owned the house and wanted to demolish it & re-build it in a modern style but was denied planning consent.

He subsequently destroyed the house in the film and consent was given! The new house was called Tara House. I'm not sure but was David Hemming's character in Charge of the Light Brigade called Tara Nolan or was it the name of his child?.

The house found second fame as the notorious home of Keith Moon (famed drummer & renowned "loon"). Stories of fun & frolics here are possibly underrated and Dougal Butler's book, "Dark Side of the Moon" is a good place to start.

I believe that house, with its' pyramid roof features, was demolished and another built. I understand that one of the Erasure band, possibly Vince Clarke, now lives there
