Question about Bernice

Was Bernice a virgin? Sorry if it's a stupid question but I kind of got that impression after what she wrote on the mirror: "Thank you for making me a woman..." And then there was something that Dick Sargent said to Elvis that "She's scared to death of love..." or something along those lines.

I got the impression that she slept around but was unfulfilled. She seemed too worldly in general and far too ready (actually predatory) to jump Elvis to be a virgin. The movie portrayed Swingin'Sixties/Sexual Revolution L.A. and she looked right at home in that environment.

Dick Sargent was too smitten to have not tasted that. They were living together until recently. He was whipped/sexually enthralled. She wasn't. Like many men would have, he rationalized his not being "the one" as her being scared of love in general. "Making her a woman" wasn't about having sex but, rather, about making her finally feel love and/or satisfaction along with sex. She runs away because she is confused as to whether what she felt with Elvis was real love (at last). He finds her, she feels love in his presence, and she is sure. The End.

Also, she seemed to be a "Woman of Means" with no visible job/means of support. Either she's: A) an heiress, B)has an unseen sugar daddy, C) is living on alimony.

In a couple of plot synopses, I've seen her described as a 'model' and a 'wacky model', so I guess she was 'between assignments' here. lol

Excellent analysis, Magus.
