I just noticed no one else wrote about it, but this film seems like it must have influenced Cronenberg. You have the weird blobby parasites that look a lot like the parasites in "Shivers" and also the main villain's weird vaginal wound in the forehead, transplanted to Max Renn's stomach in Videodrome

Possibly, but if so it would seem like a very shallow influence. Then again, Goke isn't exactly the deepest movie in the world. Personally, I think the freaky imagery is birthed purely from Cronenberg's own imagination.
