Time for a REMAKE ?

If it's done with new technology it could be a huge blockbuster worldwide.
Just imagine to have the chance to see in the big screem A NEW IMPRESSIVE GGI GODZILLA, RODAN, MANDA, ANGUIRUS, GOROSAUROS, GAMERA, MOTHRA, KING GHIDORAH....ETC ...Fighting to destroy mankind....
This can be a great remake but WHO WILL DO IT ?

Gamera isn't owned by Toho. Closest thing you'll get to that idea is "Final Wars".

Yeah i know but final wars was nearly a disappointment. What we want is for someone to make this idea WORK...(even without gamera....)

it was remade ; it was called Godzilla Final Wars LOL

I see "time for a remake" on the board for just about every godzilla-related film and I just have to see what's the point in remaking it? I imagine it would be just like Transformers, except with monsters instead of robots (a giant CGI and explosion fest with nothing else really going for it) These older movies have their charm and were done well. Do you really, honestly think a big budget remake would make it better?

Besides, I guess the director of next year's Godzilla film (which honestly, i'm a bit worried about. I have a feeling it will turn into mindless CGI fest like I described above) said he would be interested in doing a Destroy All Monsters style sequel.

Remakes are generally pointless. And, even still, Godzilla movies have been a bit formulaic over the decades. Haven't we seen most of the same monsters and situations several times over? I'd say that anybody who lacks the imagination to surprise us doesn't deserve to make a movie.

If they do remake it I think they should have more than Ghidorah have gigan and megalon fight alongside Ghidorah

Well, as crazyjim said, Final Wars basically was a remake. They threw the kitchen sink of monsters up on the screen. IMO not the travesty that some make it out to be - but hardly an improvement upon DAM in any case.

This is why trying to breathe life back into big franchises sucks. Nobody wants to take chances with the property, so they try to just tweak the formula slightly to result in another slew of similar (but slightly different) movies. This is when creative people simply bail and make their own cool superhero, or kaiju, or whatever instead of playing by committee rules.

Final Wars was essentially a remake of Destroy All Monsters (and I actually prefer Final Wars as the better film)

Final Wars also had one of the worst results of any modern Godzilla film (would need to go back like 30+ years to even come close) so was a flop & yet Destroy All Monsters is claimed to be the best Godzilla ever

Go figure

Well, I saw it for the first time in 40 forty years. It's a decent enough kids' monster flick, but I don't know how a remake would fly. I guess if it was done in the same spirit of being for young boys (and I guess girls) it could be a good movie.

If you mean a more scary-adult like movie, then I don't think that would work.

Horrible idea. They'd certainly use cgi and ruin it

A remake would be good, especially for doing things right that were a little messed up in this version: Explaining how Mothra came to Monster Land as well as the other monsters. Having all the monsters in it that were not in this one. Explaining why the monsters are back on the island at the end-by force again with safeguards against them leaving or their choice and able to come and go as they wish. And are they trusted now? I'd rather it be the latter. It was kind of sad to see Godzilla and the others wanting to leave the island and not being able to. And I just can't think of a good reason for them to have to captive on the island, especially Godzilla and Mothra.
