The DVD

With the recent explosion in popularity of Godzilla, this film is now in high demand. It was only a few years ago, these movies were in the $3 bin at Big Lots. I have it on DVD as well as every other classic Godzilla film. Will sell each for $150. Let me know which one you want. All in original cases

I've already seen the new encode that will be used for this release and it's amazing... perfect high definition picture that's been completely restored. Just wait until July and get the new Blu-ray for $15.00 which looks ten times better than the old DVD. This will be the second Blu-ray release. The first Blu-ray used inferior source materials and is now out of print so don't bother with that one. Just wait for the new version.

What about all the other classic Godzilla flicks? I was able to buy them all about 5 or 6 years ago, with the exception of Megalon. That came out more recently for whatever reason

A barrage of the classic '60s Godzilla films are now hitting Blu-ray with superior transfers and soundtracks... even the rare '70s installments like 'Smog Monster (Hedorah)' as well as 'Megalon' and 'On Monster Island'. Beautiful restorations of 'vs. The Thing (Mothra)' and 'Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster' have been released via talented fans, as well as a restored Japanese cut of 'King Kong vs. Godzilla'. And if you want the American AIP version of King Kong vs. Godzilla, it's just now out on Blu-ray. There really is little reason to pay high prices for early DVD's of these films. If you want them, most can be found on DeepDiscount for like $3.00 anyway, with the exception of the out of print titles you mentioned. But those are being released on Blu-ray soon... some in their second Blu-ray incarnation with improved picture and sound.

You may not like these movies on Blu Ray with superior transfers. You will be able to see more closely how cheesy the special effects are, etc. You will easily be able to see the strings holding up flying monsters, etc. The miniature buildings will look even more childish

You can see the wires on the DVD as well. Here are some pics of the new HD encode for Destroy All Monsters...

For the record, the sound is also vastly improved with both English dubs... the old school AIP dub and the newer International version.

More and more fan made restorations of these classics are being created by and for Godzilla fans all around the world. Many of them are in standard definition as well if you don't prefer HD. Just Google OT:DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968) - Anamorphic International Version and check it out.
