In a word: 'Embarassing'

I just saw this for the first time. As a long-time fan of the Pink Panther series, I am still numb at what I saw... and what I DIDN'T see.

Apparently, you just can't take a central character out of context and expect it to work. The context here is the people who made the series work.... Sellers, Edwards, Lom, Kwoek, Stark. Viewers just cannot believe Arkin is Clouseau.

Oh, there were a few funny bits (the frumpy, middle-aged seductress, etc.) and the plot (robbing all the Swiss banks simultaneously) was a good one. But TV director Yorkin is not Blake Edwards. Nor is Arkin's Clouseau in the same league as Sellers'.

Even if this IS an "official" Clouseau movie, I don't accept it as part of the series.
