Goofs and Trivia

The Minister tells Malone there's a V Jet to London in two hours (ie before the days of two hour check-ins!), presumably referring to a BOAC VC-10/Super VC-10 service. However, the aircraft Malone is supposed to have flown in is shown as a Qantas Boeing 707.

I was also amused by the policeman who rides into the High Commissioner's Residence on a grey Velocette and wearing, as they did, his police helmet rather than a crach helmet.

This is a long time after the OP, but the reference to V-jet is nothing to do with a VC-10. Qantas was an early operator of the Boeing 707 and subsequently had it's original pure jet engined versions re-engined with turbofans. These were put back into service with a new livery incorporating a large V-jet logo on the tailfin which was applied to all of the airline's subsequent 707 purchases(as seen in the film). Qantas said that the "V" stood for vannus, the latin for fan!
