Saddest Movie

This has to be the saddest movie I ever saw....and it's terribly hard not to cryat the end. I remember being inspired to read the book and it wasn't nearly as good.
It's too bad it's such a forgotten film. I thought Alan Arkin was so great, and he never got a role this this nearly as good.

This was my saddest film ever until I saw NEVER LET ME GO.

In my movie library there are three emotionally draining movies: The Color Purple, Ordinary People, and this one. Alan Arkin was brilliant and robbed of the Academy Award.
