Blu-ray

The collection really isn't that bad, as the other films (with the exception of a Safe Place) are excellent. Barnes and Noble often do a a 50% off Criterion sale in July, so the set drops to 50 bucks, and you can use coupons on the sale price to bring it down around 40 bucks. 40 bucks for 7 Criterion films on Blu-ray isn't really that expensive. Head is definitely my favourite film out of the set, but Five Easy Pieces and King of Marvin Gardens are also excellent. The Last Picture Show is good, Easy Rider is ok, while Drive, He Said is an interesting curio. A Safe Place is the only "bad" film in the set.

If you really only want the Monkees movie, you could always try Blu-ray.com's trading forum and/or eBay, for those silly people who only want Easy Rider and/or The Last Picture show out of the set. I honestly can't imagine breaking up the set, even if I do tend to watch Head the most. :D

I bought the set on Amazon for 70.00, took out Head, and sold the set without Head on ebay as 'new, but missing one movie' for 50.00.

It was like paying 20.00 for Head solo (a fair price, I think!)
