It sounds like a joke.
1. Why? They don't have any ideas of their own?
2. How? Head is a stand alone work. It was a product of its time. It is intertwined with the Monkees' personalities.

I hope the whole thing is a hoax.

One Direction (or rather their handlers) needs to create their own thing, not leech off of their predecessors.
