First, don't get me wrong, I like this movie BUT...


It's funny to see Corbucci create a Leftist Western straw-man statement about the evils of Capitalism that looks and feels like it was transplanted to 1898 Utah from one of Josef Stalin's many deliberately-inflicted mass famines and purges of the 20th century.

Leftist movie makers always do this: They constantly issue dire portrayals of the violence and terror and misery inflicted by their dastardly cartoon-version of Capitalists by using nightmarish scenarios that are actually the norm in Communist countries.

The dystopian "Soylent Green" also comes to mind, where the evils of Capitalism have turned the whole of Planet Earth into a polluted poverty-stricken hell that looks like much of the Soviet Bloc did during the Cold War era.
