How Did Those Boys Escape?

Hello Folks:

After seeing this movie about 2 to four times, I have 1 basic question: How exactly did Masao Nakaya and Jim Crane (those 2 boys) escape after that deceptively Human-looking extraterrestrial (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumanAliens, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TechMechObject and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UFOsandHauntedPlaces) had them strapped to the floor underneath those clamps? I didn't quite catch that. Does anyone know? Thank you very much in advance 4 your answers!
